Dear friends, it's astonishing to us that it has been a whole year since our last News item, but we would like to assure you that there's been plenty of news, just not all of it newsworthy. :-) It's been a crazy year for us, during which Life most certainly has happened. In short, Amelia has moved twice, Norm has sustained and survived a frightening elbow injury, and Drew remains the most sought-after free-lance percussionist in the band. (He's currently playing in "Fly" downtown at the Wyly theater thru Aug.18).

Very much thanks to everyone who came out to O'Riley's on June 28 to welcome us back. Sorry about the increased admission price; speaking of which, since the concert promoters seem to have increased their presence at O'Riley's lately, we intend to take somewhat of a hiatus until we can add more material to our set. Our goal is to have enough music to sustain our own show for an entire evening, which means we will also be conintuing our ever-long search for new venues.

If you have visited the site recently, you may have noticed that we disappeared for a day or two; that's because we'd been hacked! However, now that the phishing scam garbage has been removed, we invite you to re-visit the
Video page, in case you haven't seen our latest HD offerings from Oct. 2012. Thank you all for your continuing interest and support.

It's been awhile since our last update, so let's begin by thanking all those who have come to see us over the summer at O'Riley's (also, many thanks to Ted for having us back so often). We have been gratified to see such good crowds while so many people are out of town, etc., and the enthusiasm has been great as well. It's also been great to meet so many interesting fans, and we will do our best to stay in touch.

We have finally added some new
Video content featuring Amelia, garnered from the past couple months, and we also hope to add some new clips to the Audio page sometime soon as we continue to update the site. Please check out the recent videos to see whether you may have been immortalized on YouTube! If so, you're welcome. :-)

While we are still investigating new performance venues, we can extend a firm invitation to see us once again at O'Rileys on Aug. 17, 8 p.m. Thanks to all for your support, and we hope to see you again soon.

March 16, 2012

Thanks to everyone who came to see us at O'Riley's on Feb. 24. There was a great turnout, one of the best we've ever seen there. We had a great time introducing Amelia to the scene, and she obviously had a lot of support from the audience. If you weren't able to catch us then, we've added over 80 new photos to the gallery, so check 'em out!

We will appear at O'Riley's again on May 19, 8 p.m. Until then, heavy schedules make it difficult for us to find other places to play, but we're working on it. Hopefully, a light summer schedule will allow us to branch out a bit more.

February 1, 2012

We are pleased to announce the addition of lead singer Amelia Victoria to Scarlet Vermillion. We feel fortunate to have found Amelia, and have enjoyed getting to know her as we bring her up to speed with us. As you can imagine, we will need to make a few adjustments to the song list, and it will take some time to get the website fully up to date, but the important thing is that we PLAY.

Speaking of which, we finally have a new show date, Feb. 24. Check the Calendar page for details. Thanks to everyone for your patience, and please help us welcome Amelia!

November 20, 2011

Time now for a long-overdue update. Obviously, October has come and gone, and we have failed to re-appear on the local gig scene. Now that Thanksgiving is approaching, we've decided it's high time we offer everyone a summary of the past few months' developments.

First, we are sorry to inform our fans that Wendy will no longer be singing with us. After spending a few months in Peru, she has decided to move there to run the yoga program at
modernshamanism.org. While we are very sad to lose Wendy, we are nevertheless happy for her unique opportunity, and wish her nothing but the utmost success and joy in her new endeavors.

On the upside for the band, we intend to continue as before, eventually. We have lately been experimenting with writing some original material, and have also added a new MINIAK synth to our sound arsenal. Despite the unfortunate demise of Lakewood Bar & Grill, we are also looking forward to branching out into some new performance venues. And of course, we are now on the lookout for new singing talent. Exciting times!

Thanks to everyone for your continued support, and we hope to see you in concert as soon as possible.

Sorry, everyone, the Sept. 9 gig is now cancelled. Please wish Wendy well as she extends her stay in Peru. We hope to return to the scene in October. Opera schedule permitting, of course.

New gig added, more to come. Check the calendar page, and stay cool in the heat!

July 6, 2011

Welcome to the new "SV News" page! We've created this section mainly to explain, however lamely, why we sometimes disappear from the gig scene for months at a time (assuming you're interested). Also, it's a good way for us to point out when something new is added to the site, such as photos (about 40 new ones added last month!), videos, or updates to the song list. Or anything else we might think of later. By the way, if you'd really like to be pestered when we have an upcoming show, please join our Facebook group via the link on the Home page.

Big thanks to everyone who came to see us at Lakewood on June 9, and to all of you who've supported us for the past few years. Unfortunately, we will be on hiatus this summer as Drew goes to his music festival in Breckenridge, and Wendy embarks on (yet another) Peruvian yoga adventure. However, we do plan to be back on the scene in September, and are already working on bookings well as some new tunes.

So, have patience, and we hope to see you in September!
